£2000 Boost for Charities!
Colcrete Eurodrill receptionist Mandy Musson will be feeling the winter chill a little more this year after having her head shaved for charity.
Mandy has raised £1,000 for Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield and the British Heart Foundation after a spur of the moment decision at her desk in Clay Cross.
Our parent company Keller UK has generously matched Mandy’s efforts, bringing the total to £2,000.
“It all started when friends of mine who run The Old English Inn at Clay Cross were having a party to celebrate being there for 30 years and I decided to gatecrash it,” said Mandy.
“The party was on Saturday, and I had decided to do the head shave on the previous Thursday morning at work. It was a very random decision.”
The Ashgate Hospice and British Heart Foundation are causes very close to Mandy’s heart.
“My grandad died several years ago after his heart gave out on him and my dad had open heart surgery two years ago, so the BHF is a big thing for me.”
“As for the hospice, I have lost many close friends over the years who have benefitted from spending their final days there, so I decided to do something to help them.”
But why such a drastic measure as having your head shaved?
“I tried to think of something I could do personally, which would have an impact, and hopefully raise more money than something like a raffle,” said Mandy. “I couldn’t think of anything more extreme.”
“However my husband Andy drew the line at me having a full head shave so I had a Number 1 cut instead.
“He was a bit horrified when I said I was going to do it. I think he’d thought I’d finally lost the plot!”
